The International Hotel Awards has been one of the most prestigious international competitions in the hospitality industry for 20 years. Hotels could apply in 17 categories; the Buddha-Bar Hotel applied for the Best Hotel Interior Award. To obtain a World’s Best award, a hotel must first be successful competing against entrants in its own country in the same category before competing against other hotels in its region and obtaining an International Nomination.
The International Nominees from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, UK and the Americas are again evaluated and only one for each category is named as the global winner. Therefore, by winning the Best International Hotel Interior Award, the Buddha-Bar Hotel proved to be successful not only in Europe, but its unique interior design was recognised at international level.
A one hundred-page application booklet was prepared presenting the history of the Klotild Palace, details of the reconstruction works, historical monument protection related aspects, the design plans of the interior architects, the materials used, the style and design elements of the hotel interiors and décor. The application was evaluated by an international jury, based on a strictly defined set of criteria. The awards were handed over in November, at a gala dinner held in the glamorous Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The Mellow Mood Hotels has been present on the Hungarian hospitality market for nearly 20 years; it now operates 13 hotels in Budapest and one in Vienna, including the five-star Buddha-Bar Hotel Klotild Palace. Sameer Hamdan and Zuhair Awad, general managers of the group stated that the award is an important recognition for the five-star Buddha-Bar Hotel opened in summer 2012, since it will draw the attention of the Hungarian and the international hospitality industry to this unique investment.
We would like to express our gratitude to the architects and interior designers involved in the reconstruction of the over one hundred-year-old Klotild Palace: the REV Architecture in France (Cristiano Benzoni), the french Design Wapler, the Mérték Architect Studio (Attila Komjáthy senior designer), as well as to the Klotild Ltd. This award will significantly contribute to a worldwide recognition of the Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest Klotild Palace.
